Greeting,
I'm experiencing the same error when I attempt to log-on to chemstation. I reconfigured my instrument and uninstalled the chemstation software, however, this didn't rectify the error. Can anyone offer any assistance?
Regards,
Collie
We had a similar problem upgrading and older 5973N/6890N unit from WinNT to Win7 and the E version of chemstation. What we found was that the old Jet Direct interface card in the GC was too slow to process the data coming from the Chemstation. We had to upgrade the ROM on the motherboard and the LAN interface and this solved the problem. Another instrument we upgraded would not allow the MSD to receive an IP address from the newer BootP that runs as a process, on XP I simply installed an older version of the BootP program but when upgrading to Win7 I could not get that to run so we simply run the LAN cable to another XP computer and have it give the MSD its IP address then plug it back into the Win7 Chemstation.
There is a spread sheet on the Agilent site that gives compatibilities between instrument hardware, OS version and Chemstation Versions that helps pretty well. Getting all of the parts to work together is sometimes more Voodoo than science when it comes to Chemstation it seems. We have one computer that will refuse to communicate with the GC/MS even when installed with the same WinXP disks as another computer that will work. One runs fine but will not show all compounds in data analysis on that machine or when viewed across the network on another machine, but if you copy the data file to that second machine it will display everything correctly. I think in that case I have narrowed it down to the fact the harddrives are in a Raid1 mirror, but still not positive.
If you have any spare computers or laptops try those also, maybe you will hit on a combination that works. Good Luck, I hope you can get it working.
