Can an HP autosampler be installed on a non-HP instrument?

In general can that be done? For example could a 7683 autosampler be installed on a Thermo Trace GC?

Not easily, I wouldn't imagine. Both the tower (including the controller) and the tray are connected through the GC. It maybe possible to set up so that the autosampler "thinks" it's connected to an Agilent GC but I think it would take some doing.

The 7683 isn't a stand alone autosampler like some of the others (eg CTC) that you commonly see on multiple GC types...

You can use it in standalone control mode

IMO 7683 can not even been mounted on Thermo Trace.
But yes, it will run in standalone (switch-controlled) mode.

There are adaptive ALS machines like HTA-300 or CTC.
They can be tuned for nearly all GC's, but 7673 ???

Once I've seen in NET the AOC-20i with special controller installed at 5890. The controller performed command translation and made ChemStation look at AOC like 7673.
