Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I really need some insight.

I would like to purchase a GC/MS to test for pesticide residues on fruit.

I have narrowed the choices down to a Shimadzu QP2010NC Ultra or a Thermo ISQ/Trace.

Which one would you buy?

I would prefer Shimadzu QP -2010 Ultra along with the one more injector Quechers.

The Reason.
1. The TMP is a differential pumping with 364 l/sec capacity, meaning you can insert two columns into one MS by having two Injectors. So you can use two different phase of columns and there is no need to unlock the vaccum.

2. The CI ion source and NCI ion source are unique, hence the sensitivity is high. meaning Pseudo ion sources.

3. No curved rods, so no contamination. Shimadzu has rock solid rods along with the pre rods for cleaning.

There are many to add on, the above points are sufficient to go in for Shimadzu.

Thanks Vajjara, I appreciate your well reasoned answer.

My gut feel was for the Shimadzu, but the Thermo will come in at about 12% cheaper, so I was wondering if the Shimadzu was worth the difference.
