Hi,

I want to know what exactly mechanism is happening with matrix effect (poor recovery) of drug substance residual solvents by Head space GC-FID.

The dissolved matrix increases the molecular attraction of the solution solvent to the dissolved solvent of interest.

Which molecular attractions? Read any good chemistry book on the subject, or look at wikipedia.com under molecular forces for more details.
