Hi

Do anyone know what is the difference between ACQUITY UPLC BEH glycan (PN: 186004742) and ACQUITY UPLC BEH amide (PN: 186004802) column?

thanks

AFAIK there's no chemical difference between the two (meaning the "glycan" column indeed is an amide column, two). The difference is that the "glycan" column is specially QC'ed from Waters for glycan separation. So if you use a "standard" amide column, you may or may not get the same separation performance for glycan analysis as with the glycan column.
I don't know how Waters handles this internally. Being sarcastic, I'd suppose they test every column and if it seperates their glycan test mix well, it's sold as "glycan column". If it doesn't, they inject their Uracil/Acetophenon/whatever standard test mixture and sell it as "amide column". Of course, the glycan column will be more expensive :? .

Dear Guest,
Glycan or Peptide columns from Waters, are tested for their separation performance for such analytes,
Amide columns are tested for RP mode separation performance.
there indeed difference exists, not all Amide columns will be qualified as glycan columns.
this applicable to XBridge C18 & XBridge peptide columns also
you may ask for model COA from the Waters sales representative to study further  .

I don't think the Water's Amide column is intended to be reversed phase... I believe it was designed and QC'ed as a HILIC column as is the glycan column.

I was wondering what the difference was before this... While i have not bothered to check, I wonder if it's pore size.
