Does anyone have an instructional video or manual excerpts outlining how this is done?

Agilent (Hewlett-Packard then) used to have VHS videos on these, 05971-90007 for the 5971 and 05972-90011 for the 5972 (I have both), but I checked their online store and these are no longer available. The hardware manuals are 05971-90019 and 05972-90026 but these are also no longer available.

The instrument documentation/manual most of the time should have some sort of schematic or detailed section on how to disassemble and clean various parts. Have you checked those thoroughly?

You might also try the Agilent website, and the online help there.
