Suggestions to Validate a Drying Oven?

As the title states, looking for suggestions to properly validate a drying oven in a qc lab, thanks Jim.

Isn't it as simple as checking the temperatures with a NIST traceable temperature probe?

Or did you mean validate as in checking for potential contaminants?

THanks for the reply, no I am not checking for contaminants, just veryifying its operation.
That was the route I was going to take just thougt I may be missing something more formal for cGMP use. As long as the thermocouple is calibrated, I guess I am good to go. thanks.

For cGMP I'd suggest writing up an SOP or Test Plan before you do the actual testing. Write up the testing procedure with a list of equipment, note the serial number of the oven, identify the temperature set points and the acceptance criteria, as well as a frequency, i.e. test must be perfomed anually. Then do the test according to the SOP/plan.
