I just want to know if anybody has autoclaved his/hers aqueous elunt (with formic acid inside) in order to get rid of the water contaminents, producing ghost peaks. Thanks.

I'm not sure that autoclaving would do anything to get rid of contaminants.

But what do you think would it be detrimenting to the eluent as a whole

I guess it would depend on what your eluent is.

Of course it would be. If nothing else, you would probably selectively vaporize the more volatile components.
If your problem is ghost peaks, do a search of the Forum using those keywords; you will find a great number of discussions and suggestions on how to diagnose and fix the problem (autoclaving is
not among them!)
