Saturated peak dilution factor

Hello,

I'm new here and this is my first post.

I have a peak that is saturated, I was trying to figure out how I can find the true area of the peak to find out how much of a dilution I need, but every answer I got was too small.

I've already diluted my sample, but for future reference and so I don't have to guess how much I need to dilute a saturated peak, is there a specific formula that I can use to figure this out? I've asked a few co-workers, but they haven't come up with the right answer either.

Thank you! :D

Shelley,

Dont use the total peak area use the area of a secondary, preferably not too strong, ion. Extracted ion profile (on Agilent) of sample versus standard and use that area to base your dilution on.

Best regards.
