Hi! We have possible hydraulic oil leak from a mechanical harvester into our product. Would like to analyze the same on our Varian GC/MS/MS. Can someone share a GC-MS program for this kind of analysis. The column we are using is a VF-5 MS (30m x 0.25). Only have 3 samples to run, so want to get this out of the way ASAP. All help appreciated.

Kst1,
The oven program depends on the kind of resolution you need and on the oil type (see link).

A oven program for your column might be:
70 C 2 min hold-> 30C/min till 300 C (or till the max T of your colum) hold 20 min will do.
Note that 30 C/min might be too much for some lower molecular weight oils.

I'd be very cautious about shooting oil. Mineral oil and hydraulic oil may be very different in volatility. You might really gum up the works. The classic test for oil is extraction followed by solvent evaporation "oil & grease".
