Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum. I am running GC/MSD 6890N/5975. I used the PFTBA autotune. I am able to see the mass 69, 219, and 502 while i am doing the autotune. However, the tune can never be complete by giving me an error message "Tune action stopped: Cannot achieve constant peak widths". I have just cleaned my ion souce, and replace the column. I also have make sure my column is only sticking out 1 mm on the MSD side. I am desperate to solve the problem.

Here is the image of the autotune. It started out with see all the three masses.

Then, after autotuning itself a while, it gave me the error message.

If you need anymore info to help troubleshoot, let me know.
Sorry I do not know how to make the image smaller...

Things I try when something like this happens:

-make sure the wires are back on in the correct locations (especially that the blue and orange are not reversed).
-try the other filament
-try a new filament

Good luck

And, if you have the MS program "paint", you can resize pictures easily...at least you didn't post bitmaps

Yeah, your peak widths shown in first attachment are outside the 0.40 - 0.60 window, it couldn't get them "in", so it shut down. I'd first "reset to defaults" or to a saved autotune from the past that worked good, and let it try that. Second, I'd try switching to filament "2". If that doesn't work, I'd say it's time to clean the MS source.

Thanks. The autotune is able to complete after restoring the old atune setting.
